These rules apply to all Sims 2 and 3 downloads

General Rules

1. Thumbnails
Attach a thumbnail picture to your download for the forum topic list. To add a thumbnail, click the "advanced" button, located below the text box where you enter a post. Attach your thumbnail, by using the browse button. Thumbnail pics should be NO larger than 150 pixels in width or length.

2. Portal
Newly posted items in the Download section automatically appear on the Portal (Home Page), and will be the first thing people see when they come to the site. To make your post stand out on the home page, post a good picture of your item. The picture must be THE VERY FIRST ITEM in your post. Put text descriptions and download links below the picture that will appear on the portal. When you finish posting your download, take a look at the portal to make sure your item is appearing properly.

3. Display Pictures:

- Always follow the board's Picture Posting Rules.

- Pictures must be hosted on a image hosting site (Photobucket, ImageShack, Tinypic, etc). DO NOT link pictures from your personal websites or blog's server.

- Do not post display pics bearing the name of your personal website. Download display pictures appear on our home page and members are not allowed to use our home page as their personal advertising space. If you want to let members know about your site, do so in your signature or in our Look What I Found section.

- If you'd like to add SU's logo to your display pics, you can find the logo with a transparent background here.

4. Download Links
All downloads MUST be hosted on a dedicated file hosting site (Mediafire, Box, etc.) DO NOT link downloads from your personal website or blog's server. Although Mediafire is a good file host, files can sometimes disappear from there without warning. If you must use Mediafire, its suggested that you provide an alternate file host for your downloads.

5. Updates
Add your item to the current Updates thread.

Downloads that do not follow the rules will be removed.

SIMS

1. Please put effort into sculpting your sim's face and making it unique. Sims that look like they came straight from the sim bin with a lot of makeup and face masks will be removed.

2. Title the thread with the name of your sim.

3. Provide at least 1 close-up shot of the sim's face.

4. For Sims 2 sims, include a screen shot of the Clean Installer custom content list. If necessary, resize the Clean Installer window so that the ENTIRE list of items is visible. If the list is too long for one screen shot, post the necessary number of screen shots to provide the entire custom content list. Instructions on posting pictures and the clean installer list are posted in the Game Help forum.

For Sims 3 sims, provide a text list of custom content along with the creator's name/site.

5. For Sims 2 sims, remove the following files in clean installer before sharing your sim for download:
b18484e15a91c5a039d61f635d15d7c3
f713a526bd387b1e3551400604b0cc54
fb97edc56b169ed99439f408e6cdeead

The files will appear as an "Unknown" file type in clean installer and can cause the game to crash:

OBJECTS/RECOLORS/PATTERNS

1. Post a clear, close-up of the object/recolor.

2. Do not post items using another creator's textures or manipulate their meshes if their TOU (Terms of Use)  prohibits it. Get permission from the creator first.

3. If your upload is a recolor include the mesh. If creator policy prohibits mesh sharing, provide a direct link to the mesh. If the mesh is from a paysite, either include it or post a link to the booty. Include meshes from dead sites. Always give credit to the original creator whether the mesh is included or not.

4. If you clone an object from a FREE creator, you must have permission to do so. Cloned objects from pay or dead sites are OK. Always give credit (with links) to the original creator.

LOTS

1. Provide several clear pictures of the interior and exterior, as well as aerial shots of the floor plan for each level. The idea is to give downloaders a clear idea of what they're getting.

2. List necessary expansion and stuff packs.

3. Please remove all custom hacks, mailboxes, and mailbox recolors with Clean Installer before uploading your lot.

4. If the lot contains custom content, it is your responsibility to follow creator policies for uploading their items. Provide either a text or Clean Installer list of cc.

CLOTHING & HAIR

1. Post clear pictures. Clothing should include full body shots (including shoes). Hair pictures should be close-up head shots. It's preferable that you post at least two pics showing the outfit or hair from different angles (front and back). Please refrain from posting pics using awkward poses (crossed arms, sitting, or any pose that obstructs a full view of the outfit). The objective is to give downloaders a good, clear view of the clothing/hair - not to show off how creative you are with a pose box. Also, for clothing pics, please do not use long hairstyles that will cover the details of the outfit.

2. Do not post items using another creator's textures or manipulate their meshes if their TOU prohibits it. Get permission from the creator first. If you use any part of another creator's work, whether it's textures or an edited mesh, you must ALWAYS give credit (with links) to the original creator.

3. If your upload requires a mesh, include it when possible. If creator policy prohibits mesh sharing, provide a direct link to the mesh. If the mesh is from a paysite, either include it or post a link to the booty. Include meshes from dead sites. Always give credit to the original creator whether the mesh is included or not.

WALLS/FLOORS

1. Post clear, in-game screenshots. Spread the wall/floor across several tiles so users can get a better idea of how it will look tiled across a whole room. Do not use reflective wall/floor overlays in your preview pics.

2. Please make sure that your wall and floor textures are seamless. They should blend together when placed next to each other and should not be crooked or cut off where they meet.

3. Do not post items using another creator's textures if their TOU prohibits it. Get permission from the creator first.

Thanks for sharing! :ty:
